PTSD Treatments
Treatment methods will depend on the individual, but a combination of approaches is often used, such as:
- CBT
- Group therapy
- Antidepressants
- Self-Care
Although these methods can be effective, there is another type of treatment which has been labeled as a breakthrough treatment in recent times. This is known as the stellate ganglion block (SGB) injection that can provide immediate relief. The stellate ganglion is a collection of nerves found in the neck which control the “fight or flight” response.
In those with PTSD, it has been found that they have an overactive sympathetic nervous system that constantly pro-duces stress hormones, which can lead to constantly feeling anxious and on edge. The SGB injection is simply a mixture of local an-esthetic that is injected on the right side of the neck and numbs the stellate ganglion. This essentially resets the transmitter and diminishes the main symptoms of PTSD which can, in turn, help with the other symptoms, including depression.

The Future Of PTSD Treatment?
It is thought that the SGB injection could completely revolutionize PTSD treatment in the coming years and it has already helped peo-ple all around the world to lead happier lives. It is understandable to have some concerns over any new treatment, but the SGB injection is a low-risk procedure and has been safely carried out for nearly 100 years. The injection was originally used to treat chronic pain, but it has more recently been used to treat PTSD symptoms and has proven to be both safe and highly effective. The injection is accu-rately administered using fluoroscopic imagery, which allows our doctors to see exactly where the medication is being administered.
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can be incredibly difficult to live with and affect many areas of your life. It is also very common and anyone can suffer from PTSD after experiencing or witnessing any kind of traumatic event. Those that live with PTSD often relive the experience over and over again and constantly feel on edge, which can have dangerous knock-on effects. It is important to know that PTSD can be treated, however, and the SGB injection is an excel-lent option due to the fact that it can provide immediate relief and help the individual to reduce stress hormones. This can then help the individual to overcome their difficulties through other forms of treatment and self-care.
